The BNZBA in partnership with AUT invite you to hear Rob Everett, CEO of the Financial Markets Authority on the challenges for financial services regulators from societal and technological change.
Originally from the UK, Rob has been CEO of the Financial Markets Authority (FMA) for the last 7 years during which time there have been significant changes in the risk profile of the financial markets. Crypto currencies, cyber attacks, crowd funding, a rapid growth in online trading platforms like Sharesies and Robinhood, the rise in sales of green and sustainable financial products, these are just some of the developments that market regulators are having to respond to locally and globally. Hear Rob speak about the major challenges he believes the FMA and other regulators need to address to achieve the appropriate culture and level of conduct needed in financial markets to protect all participants.
Rob started his career in the Capital Markets with Allen & Overy in the UK and then spent 17 years working in London, New York and Hong Kong with Bank of America Merrill Lynch. His roles included being General Counsel, Europe, and then Chief Operating Officer, Europe. Rob took on his current role in February 2014 and will leave the role in September this year. Rob has an MA.Law from Cambridge University.
