MYOB Public Affairs Manager Conor Roberts explains how cloud-based solutions benefit SMEs.
MYOB has been working alongside New Zealand businesses for more than 25 years – a lifetime for a tech business.
During that time, we’ve transformed what we do and how we do it – from leading the market with innovative desktop accounting for SMEs – into a modern tech company providing a range of cloud-based business management solutions for start-ups through to large enterprises.
We’re focused on harnessing the power of technology to make business life easier and more profitable. Our cloud-based accounting software significantly reduces the amount of time businesses owners spend on administration tasks.
MYOB customers report that our direct bank feeds function, which imports transactions from your bank into the accounting software, saves approximately half a day of work every month on data entry and bank reconciliation. This adds up to over $3,000 per annum of a business owners’ time.
According to our research, nine out of ten customers say that online software has improved and simplified their accounting and bookkeeping processes, while 75 percent say it has improved the security of their business information.
That’s because one of the major benefits of cloud-based accounting software is the ability to access it anywhere, at any time. For a business owner on the move, having a real-time view of their cashflow and the ability to collaborate with their accountant is invaluable.
It’s why we’re planning to invest more than $200 million in research and development over the next two years into our product suit to help local businesses achieve success.
Our dedicated investment in local solutions means we can deliver tailored local solutions to market faster– meaning our customers were first to be able to file their eGST returns online in New Zealand, first to be able to use digital signatures with Inland Revenue and they’re the only accounting software users that can file their own AIM provisional tax files.
One of the major benefits of cloud-based accounting software is the ability to access it anywhere, at any time. For a business owner on the move, having a real-time view of their cashflow and the ability to collaborate with their accountant is invaluable.
MYOB has more than 400 staff in New Zealand, half of whom are dedicated to building the latest business management services for our customers. That includes developing the latest in artificial intelligence and machine-to-machine learning programmes to digitise and automate business processes, giving them more control over operations, more insights, more productivity and success – that’s our goal.
